Plot Summary:

This episode explain the story behind how the Luffy got his straw hat and how he eat the devil fruit

The episode starts with the young girl of last episode where she tricks the crew member of pirate Buggy the immortal (Clown).

Now Luffy and Zoro were having the conversation at that time, Luffy's straw hat flown away. There starts the flashback. The Red Hair Shanks drinks and often celebrate in Luffy's howetown. Shanks is one of the pirate whom Luffy is inspired.

One Day when Shanks was drinking, there comes group of mountain bandit in search of wine almost 10 barrels. When the bar attender says no wine, he get pissed off and insult Shanks. This make young Luffy becomes very angry on the those bandits and out of rage he accidentally ate devil fruit Shanks had. .

The young Luffy attacks bandits and he gets captured by the bandits. On hearing this Shank's pirate crew attack bandit but the head of bandit escapes with young Luffy using smoke bomb. He escapes via sea route and throw Luffy to drown (Who eats the devil fruit won't able to swim).Shanks comes to rescue him but they both were attacked by sea monsters where Shanks loses his left hand. Shanks saves young Luffy and gives him the straw hat which is very sentiment and telling him to return once he becomes a great Pirate.

The episode ends with the young girl was escaping from Pirate Buggy. During the episode also we came to know Buggy has also eaten the devil fruit.

I think this will be the first enemy Luffy going to face who had eaten the devil fruit
